I think I may have found my first postpartum program — what perfect timing, right?!

Barre has been a hot trend for quite a few years now. I tried it myself a few years back and I loved it! But, to be totally honest, I had a hard time justifying the cost. And without childcare, unfortunately, I knew that no matter how much I loved it, I just wouldn't be able to attend classes regularly.

But, give me a barre class I can do from home whenever it's convenient for ME, and I'm all in! And that's exactly what Beachbody is doing with Barre Blend!

Introducing Barre Blend, Our First At-Home Barre Class!

You’ve heard of the term “dancer’s body,” right? Barre workouts incorporate dance style moves that are a serious workout for the entire body — legs, core, booty. But it also focuses on posture and flexibility. All adding up to a beautiful, long, lean, and strong body!

And Beachbody’s Barre Blend program by Trainer Elise Joan “blends” your traditional barre class’s elegant ballet moves, with interval training, AND incorporates light weights for an incredibly amazing workout program that will make you sweat, stretch, strengthen your entire body!

I this isn’t just some fun easy dance workout. While yes, it will be fun, it’s also an intense program designed for ALL fitness levels and all ages that will give you insane results!

And, it may be low-impact, but you’ll have to bring high energy for this high-intensity workout created by an amazing professional dancer & barre expert trainer. 

My success partner had an opportunity to try it last month and told me it was AMAZING. She said she could not believe how sore she was the next day… in muscles she didn’t even know were there. HA!

But first, let’s get one big question out of the way….

Will you need a ballet bar in your home to do Barre Blend?

Nope, absolutely not. And thank goodness, because I have no idea where I would keep one! Ha! If you’d really like to you can install a handrail or invest in a ballet barre, but it’s not necessary. As long as you have a sturdy object around the right height, you’re all set!

  • Couch
  • Countertop
  • Table

Whatever you have nearby that you clean grab hold of to help you keep steady and balance will do the trick! 

So, what equipment is required for Barre Blend?

Honestly, you don’t need much to do this program! Aside from a sturdy object to act as your barre, all you need is…

  • A set of light weights (1–5lbs is plenty!)
  • Yoga or fitness mat
  • Resistance loops

And even the resistance loops are optional for a little added challenge (and more booty gains!). It also might be smart (but, totally optional) to get yourself a pair of Beachbody Barre Socks for a little extra grip since this is a no-shoes program!

How long is Barre Blend?

The program is 2 months — 8 weeks long. Plenty of time to get amazing results!

  • 5 workouts/week
  • 30–40 minutes/day
  • 2 rest & recover days

And there are 40 unique workouts, so you’ll never repeat the same one twice.

This is something I love — you never get bored. The workouts are always progressing as you get stronger. And you don’t have to listen to the trainer saying the same exact things week after week. LOL!

What can you expect from the workouts?

First, of all, there won’t be any complex choreography. So, if you’re uncoordinated, don’t worry — you’ll be able to keep up without tripping over your own feet. Hehe!

And it’s a low-impact program!

Every workout will engage your entire body, but there will be a special focus on a different area of the body each day! 

There will be:

  • Small-range movements
  • Long isometric holds
  • High rep-counts
  • Compound exercises

Plus, we also get some cardio thrown in! 

And if you know me, you already know I’m excited about that! Each day will include a bit of cardio interval training in the mix to help you get your heart going and burn even more calories. This isn’t traditionally included in barre workouts, but that’s why it’s called “barre blend!”

Who is this program good for?

Barre Blend is designed for ALL fitness levels. There are even THREE different options to follow along with for each workout depending on your fitness level!

  1. Modifier: Think of this as a beginner level.
  2. Mid-Level: Great for those that have a base level of fitness.
  3. Intensifier: Perfect for anyone wanting to amp it up a little.

I suggest starting off with the mid-level and seeing how you feel — you may even drop to the modifier on some moves and feel strong enough to follow the intensifier on others!

What else do you need to know about Barre Blend?

Not only is Barre Blend going to help you achieve a long, lean body, but it will also help shape your mindset!
